Anti:Dote’s Bannie Kang is currently winging her way to the UK as the Singapore representative in the global finals of the Black Cow Vodka Gold Top Cup. Her winning drink: The Thinker, made from Black Cow vodka, banana syrup and sherry will be competing against the best entries form Honk Kong, Canada and the USA at the finals held in Dorset, UK this week. Black Cow’s aim is to inspire and encourage the best, most inventive and imaginative mixologists to showcase their work across the Black Cow social media channels during this two-day event. Bannie was one of ten finalists competing in the Singapore final at Fancy on North Canal Road, all who had been hand-picked by the judges after visiting every entrant and trying every drink. Watermelon rind, Wagyu beef fat and apple peelings were just some of the unusual ingredients used to create some stunning Black Cow vodka cocktails in the Singapore Black Cow Gold Top Cup. In the country final of the international competition, the finalists showcased their competition creation: a cocktail made from by-products of a dish – echoing the essence of Black Cow vodka itself, which is made from distilling whey: a waste by-product of the cheesemaking process. Tim Clark, from Eastwind Imports, the brand owners in Singapore said, “The standard of entries is testament to the amazing creativity of our bartenders in Singapore. The concept of creating cocktails around ingredients that would otherwise go to waste is central to Black Cow vodka’s sustainable ethos.” The ten finalists in Singapore were: Nina Kong – Sugarhall Bannie Kang – Anti:Dote Dave Koh – Bar Stories Yadhaven Santheran – The Guild Singapore Sashi Satiyaseelen – Pollen Michael Mendoza – 1864 Bar & Lounge Sofitel Leonard Lin – 1880 Don Henry Miranda – The World Is Flat Tim Chew – 1880 Try your own Black Cow cocktails at home or visit any of the finalists at their amazing bars!
