Picture
A beautifully coloured gin cocktail with a rich texture and if made with fresh raspberries and homemade raspberry syrup just too good to stop at one drink.

The right thing to serve your guests at this year's Christmas dinner party, this is how to make a Clover Club:

50 ml East London Premium Gin Batch 1
10 ml Fresh lemon juice
5 ml  Raspberry syrup (or grenadine)
10 ml Sweet Vermouth
One handful of fresh raspberries
One egg white

Dry shake all ingredients in a shaker for about 30 seconds until the egg has emulsified and the berries have been pulverised. Add half a cup of ice, then shake again until cold. Fine strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a raspberry.

Maraska Maraschino Liqueur

SGD70.00
Maraska Maraschino liqueur has been made from the Marasca cherries since the beginning of the 16th century. The export of Maraschino Liqueur started towards the end of the 18th Century.

This original cherry liqueur has conquered the world in the past 200 years. Among the fruits grown around the picturesque city of Zadar, a special kind of Sour Cherry is cultivated that has brought world fame to this area. The distillery even took its name from the noble Marasca cherry that provides the raw material for many of its products.

Maraska Maraschino liqueur is produced from the distillates of the Dalmatian marasca tart cherries and is known all over the world because of its typical sweet taste and the aromatic fragrance of sweet cherries.

Cocchi Rosa Americano

SGD65.00

Cocchi Americano is an aromatized wine created in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi and since then produced without interruption according to the original recipe.

The name “Americano” is both due to the alcohol made bitter (“amaricato”) by the addition of herbs and spices and to the American habit of drinking vermouth with ice and soda.

Produced according to Giulio Cocchi original recipe, Cocchi Americano is recognised in Asti as the aperitif par excellence – a real piece of history of our town.

On its label the original futurist rooster designed in the 30’s and representing his aperitif function (“it awakes the appetite”) as well as one of the symbols of the town of Asti.

During its history, Cocchi has produced some variants to its Aperitivo Americano. The most recent is Cocchi Rosa produced with a base of red wines of Piedmont to which herbs and spices extracts are added, in particular gentian, cinchona, citrus zests and rose petals.

Characteristics

The Cocchi Rosa name reminds us that it’s produced with red wines, from which it derives its colour and wild rose notes. Refined with natural extracts of flowers and spices, in particular gentian, cinchona and citrus as per the Americano Bianco but with the addition of saffron, vanilla and rose petals. Its beautiful red colour is completely natural and derives from the wine.

How to drink

The classic version foresees a cocktail glass with ice cubes, a spray of soda and a zest of rose grapefruit.

Soda can be pleasantly replaced with ginger beer, lemon soda and tonic water.

In its spritz version, Cocchi Rosa is mixed with Brachetto wine and a zest of rose grapefruit or lemon. Garnish it with rosemary.

The combination with spirits such as gin, vodka and mescal is particularly positive. Cocchi Rosa is a perfect ingredient for the new trend of “low octane” cocktails, with a low alcohol content.

Cocchi Barolo Chinato

SGD88.00

Born in Piedmont in the last century, it soon spread thanks to its taste, well balanced between bitter and sweet, and especially for the leading effect on the market of its name “Barolo”, that immediately positioned it among the noblest products compared to various other types of alcoholic drinks based on cinchona.

Inventor of this original recipe, Giulio Cocchi was also the protagonist of the diffusion of Barolo Chinato.

In Italy its consumption was encouraged by the fame it gained as therapeutic wine. A traditional remedy in Piedmont to cure many small sicknesses, especially in case of cooling. Drunk as a vin brulé, hot and invigorating, its antipyretic and digestive capacities were widely recognized. Serving it to the guests became a typical tradition of the farmers’ hospitality.

Over time, the use of this aromatized wine changed and today, in the general wake to recover traditions and naturality, it’s been rediscovered with new and interesting consumption styles.

Characteristics

Barolo Chinato is a special wine produced with Barolo DOCG, aromatized with cinchona calisaya bark, rhubarb and gentian root and the precious cardamom seed whose active principles are extracted with a slow maceration at room temperature.

Characterized by balance and harmony in the perfume with an immediate pleasant taste and a pleasant aromatic persistence.

How to drink

The occasions to appreciate Cocchi Barolo Chinato are diverse, with a particular success in the good restoration when served at environment temperature or as elegant end of the meal or even steam heated with orange zest. Almost a surprise then the recent discovery of Barolo Chinato as an “ideal liquid” to support and complete the persistent taste of the mostly cocoa rich chocolates.

Andrea Slitti, among the best maîtres chocolatiers, has produced an artisanal praline with Barolo Chinato. A top-of the-range product distributed by Giulio Cocchi to accompany the tasting and to show the successful marriage.

Cocchi Americano

Cocchi Americano is an aromatized wine created in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi and since then produced without interruption according to the original recipe.

On its label the original futurist rooster designed in the 30’s and representing his aperitif function (“it awakes the appetite”) as well as one of the symbols of the town of Asti.

Characteristics

Cocchi Americano, for its nature, represents the link between wine and liquors being a wine plus a small quantity of alcohol bittered (“amaricato”) by the infusion of precious herbs and spices: white wine, sugar, herbs and spices infusion in alcohol and in particular gentian flowers and leaves, Artemisia, Cinchona, bitter orange peel, elderflower and others.

To produce Cocchi Americano, white wine is aromatized with the extracts obtained through a cold infusion in alcohol, then refined for balancing the spices’ aromas and tastes.

How to drink it

The classic version sees it served well chilled in a cocktail glass with ice cubes, completed with a splash of seltz so to free all its aromas and typical perfumes. It can be perfected with a squeezed out orange peel.

The Spritz Americano version foresees the use of a wine glass plus the addition of a dry sparkling wine. It becomes Royale in combination with a metodo classico Alta Langa DOCG.

In the Summer version the glass is filled with chopped-up ice, making a perfect refreshing drink. The naturally bitter note of Americano is not lost even when abundantly diluted.

In mixology, Cocchi Americano is exceptionally versatile for the classic cocktails as Vesper Martini, Corpse Reviver #2, White Negroni, as modifier or as a base for the aromatizing infusions. Particularly successful the combination with spirits such as gin, vodka and metzcal. It is a perfect ingredient for the new strong trend of the “low octane” cocktails with low alcoholic content.
